The Yuletide season offer a multitude of pastimes far superior than checking the headlines: unwrapping gifts, indulging in holiday treats, and employing deep breathing to avoid yelling at relatives. Hopefully you succeeded in enjoy all these things and more. That said, the world of entertainment doesn't go on vacation, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. A slew of exciting developments surfaced during the holidays, and just in case you missed some of them, here is a summary of the most exciting bits.
The One-Punch Man Series Season 3 Is Set to Continue (Come 2027)
Truly the most surprising revelation, the widely-criticized troubled production that was the third season of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to stop more episodes. Season 3 will return with a subsequent part in 2027—so far away they easily could have called it season 4. Adding to the surprise, animation studio J.C. Staff will remain in charge. At least this time, director Shinpei Nagai is set to direct from the beginning, which could be taken as a good sign. Yet, the main art for the new episodes is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This leads one to believe that, nowadays, they could be teasing the fans.
The Ruri Dragon Series Is Poised to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has built a standing for being an prestigious animation studio, setting itself apart not just for the superb artistry of its productions but for the good working conditions of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Curiously, until now, it had not adapted an anime stemming from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, perhaps the most famous magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will end that streak, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo gained widespread acclaim when it first appeared in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a extended pause due to the creator's health issues. When it came back with a lighter schedule, the series showed it maintained the fans' support and positive sentiment, and now fans are thrilled about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
The Kingdom Series Season 6 Has a Sequel Now in the Works
Kingdom is the highly popular, long-running Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only just received an English localization, but the anime has been running for some time, and its sixth season was another stellar entry. It turns out that was just the first cour, because a "sequel" has been announced as currently being made, and it will probably air in 2026.
Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series
One more studio famous for the superior craftsmanship of its projects, Science Saru has brought us masterpieces of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an influential woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a distinctly fresh and captivating visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Scheduled to launch in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my must-watch list.
The Tougen Anki Series Is Set to Continue With a Season Two

Adapted from the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara.
