Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
