In the 94th minute, pure elation broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a last-gasp equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and gifted the temporary Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch in class, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Experience

On the home bench was the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, was a one-time trainer at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and arrived to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.

Factoring in a host of absences, headlined by Chelsea's important midfielder Moisés Caicedo (suspended) and goalkeeper Robert Sánchez (injured), McFarlane's task began as a mission that seemed Mission: Impossible.
